The glass is crystal clear with standard crosshairs.
Just a note, the Canadian Forces Sniper Unit, recently switched scopes from the Unertl 10X to the US Optics SN-3 EREK 3. They usually respond very quickly to questions like yours. I have a Unertl 1 1/2" target scope in 24X that I use on a half dozen early rifles. While the scopes are not really delicate their build is unique and it was/is easy to damage one when mounting or servicing. These scope bases are designed for Unertl or Posa type mounts and will fit round or octagon barrels.I don't know what the Unertl lenses were coated with, if they were coated at all, but I doubt that a 30 to 40 year old Unertl would be as clear/crisp as a new Leupold. I had a friend that had quite a few varmint outfits with high end Unertl’s on them. After 1980 Unertl went out of the sporting scopes business and only produced scopes for the military contracts. Looking to spend up to a maximum of $200 shipped (to the UK) on a scope that looks like a Unertl 10x (the model used on the USMC M40A1). I think they were better scopes than the Weavers/ Redfields back then, on a par with Bausch&Lomb.
